Liga ACB is the highest ranked basketball competition in Spain. The league also belongs to the top 5 most popular basketball leagues in Europe. The competition usually starts in September and finishes in July next year. Liga ACB tournament structure

Overall 19 teams compete in Liga ACB every year. The teams play against each other two teams in the regular season. The best 8 teams qualify for the playoffs and the worst team is relegated to LEB Oro, the lower division. As with other basketball playoffs, the best 8 teams compete in quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. The number of games in the playoffs to qualify to the next round can vary from year to year. Additionally, all teams have the right to participate in the spanish cup, also known as the Copa del Rey. Some of the teams will also compete in a special tournament called Super Cup ACB, usually before the next regular season starts.
